But despite the howls and protests by the Trade Unions, Udaya Nanayakara was appointed as Chairman replacing the veteran hotelier and the UNP loyalist. According to Shrikotha Officials, Udaya Nananyakra had openly canvassed for Mahinda Rajapaksa during the last election.
Many UNP officials at Sirikotha had protested when Udaya Nananyakara was appointed. But it was of no avail, because a SLFP Minister had influenced the appointment.
Trade Union Officials say that Udaya Nanayakra was removed from the Tourism Bureau by non other than Chandrika Bandaranayaike over financial impropriety. Udaya Nanayakara had connived with Depal Mudadeniya over the purchase of items for the tourism office in a Western Capital . Both were asked to go with out notices. More investigations will be conducted and we will reveal the actual story.
Meanwhile Udaya Nannayakara is running round the market condemning the Prime minister and the Minister that they are not a patch on Mahinda Rajapakse. The Unions are very worried that Nanayakara might do the same thing with the funds of the Tourism Bureau during his previous stint.
