Speaking during a media briefing held in Colombo today, General Secretary of the JHU, Minister Champika Ranawaka said the party will field candidates for several electorates at the election.
The Minister said the UNP and its coalition is destined to claim victory at the impending Local Government Elections.
On a separate note, Minister Champika Ranawaka said former President Mahinda Rajapaksha appointed several committees to formulate a new constitution.
The Minister said the present opposition have been protesting against the constitution only to gain political mileage.
Minister Champika Ranawaka said the majority of the members representing the joint opposition have been supporting power devolution and the strengthening of provincial councils.
