Opening of new pavement for Colombo
Having taken into consideration the serious traffic congestion prevailing in Colombo Fort and Pettah, steps have been taken to construct a network of pavements avoiding main roads so that pedestrians could walk safely. After work was completed in the first phase of this project from near Lake House along D.R. Wijewardena
Mawatha in Colombo upto Olcott Mawatha, the President Maithripala Sirisena handed it over to the public last morning (23).The first phase of this construction was done by Metro Colombo Urban Development Project under Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development at a cost of Rs. 17 million and labour was provided by the Sri Lanka Navy. The President who cut the ribbon then engaged in a surveillance tour at the place and Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka and several others including Secretary of Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development were present on this occasion.
